This single disc collects material from various groups that the legendary pianist brought to Europe, reflecting the width and range of Corea’s creativity. Ranging from 1988 to 2010, Corea brings his Akoustic Band with John Patitucci/b and Tom Brechtlein to the Montreux Casino for an intricate and lyrical “Quartet No. 2 (Pt. 1), while showing some muscle with Bob Berg/sax, Gary Novak/drd and Patitucci for a 1993 “Who’s Inside The Piano?” and “New Waltz”. Corea is in a bebopping mood with a supergroup of Christian McBride/b, Kenny Garrett/as and Roy Haynes/dr.
Corea plugs in with his Elektric Band of Frank Gambale/g, Dave Weckl/dr, Eric Marienthal/sax and Patitucci in 2004 for the radiant “Interlude” and with the Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Corea Cora glistens on the Mozartian “America”. A wonderful return to forever.
