South Island Rhythm Kings: Still That Way Today

A deep dish of Chicago blues is served by “Lazy” Mike Mallon/voc-harp, Carson Mallong/g-voc, Dan Dube/key, Nick Doktor/dr and guests Jack Lavin/b & Sean Kilback/g for a searing session of Muddy Waters getting stirred.

Mallon blows like a wind off of Lake Michigan on the shuffling “Still That Way Today” and sears with his rusty voice around a nasty bass line on the slithering “Hard To See”. Dube’s piano is lazy and blue around the wheezing harp on “I’m Getting Old” and delivers some leathery vocals on the ZZ Top’d “No Naggin’ No Braggin”. The team boogies down for “I Live Out in the Country” and are a hoot on “Thunderbird”. The wolf is howlin’!
