Drummer and leader Gard Nilssen forms a trio with bassist Petter Eldh and Andre Roligheten, who quadruples on tenor, soprano and bass sax as well as clarinet for musical pastiches. Roligheten’s bass sax is a visceral rumble with NIlssen’s mallets on the rumbling “The Room Next To Her” while multipe reeds create a thick and foreboding atmosphere on the folkish and tympanic “The Other Village”. Nilssen’s cymbals guide the fluid clarinet through the ruminating “Dregnau” while giving subtle and serene support with Eldh for the soprano sax on “Cercle 85”. The songs range between 3-5 minutes, so the album feels l ike a collection of musical kaleidoscopes being passed through the lens. Musical water colors
