Toronto based drummer Robert Diack brings together a quartet of bassist Brandon Davis, guitarist Patrick O’Reilly and pianist/synth man Jacob Thompson for 13 originals large on atmosphere and mood. Some of the pieces are quiet reflections, such as Thompson’s spotlight on “Depth” while there’s a spacey mix of acoustic guitar and electronics on “Vodem”. The team rocks a bit on “Aler” and Diack supplies a strong backbeat to “Sassafras” and “Houndstooth”. Effects and prog rock dominate “Plex” while some country tones are emitted on “Indigent”.
