When an artist like Cedric Hanriot puts in his credits “sound design”, you know you’re going to get some atmospheres, and the pianist/keyboardist/composer does just that with bassist Bertrand Beruard and drummer Elie Martin Charriere on this collection of mostly originals. He does deliver a hip fusiony take of Nirvana and Massive Attack tunes “Come As You Are/Teardrop” and there is some rap provided by Days on “Friday” and the poetic “Water” with “Soul Interlude” also including Jason Palmer on the urban street scene. Braxton Cook adds his sax on “Further Interlude” while there is some pretty work on the soulful disco’d “Run” and dreamy “Reverie”. Thoughtful fusion with a dash of modern inner city sounds.
