This is the second volume of the Mista Savona production that melds Jamaica and Cuba, and the results are just as embracing as the first time around. The biggest change is the selection of vocalists, with a wide variety of singers including Brenda Navarrete and Micha Shemiah just part of the vocal package supported by Sly Dunbar/dr, Gaston Joya/b, Winston Bwen/g, a mix of percussionists, guitarists and horn players.
Vintage reggae akin to the glory days of Bob Marley are produced by CLinto F earon on “The Human Chain” and Solis with Julito Padron for “Juramento”, while Jake Savona’s smoky organ sears on “Destiny with Micha Shemaiah”. Cimafunk brings a raspy scat to “Beat Con Flow” with some East African guitar work on the lilting “The Fire From Africa”. Baz Turnbull brings a rock feel to “Solutions with Stevie Culture” and the blues are brewed for “Reggae Y Son” . Think of the Buena Vista Social Club with dreadlocks, and you get the idea.
