This co-op of an album features group and solo excursions by Lucia Ianniell/tp, Robert Cervi/g, Paolo Tombolesi/p-key, Mario Mazzenga/b and Grant Calvin Weston/dr. The group format includes a dark “Over The Wind” featuring Iannielli’s haunting horn, Cervi tensile over Weston’s high hat on “Yellow Lady Bug” and a couple quirky moods, with a muted horn on “Forest Keepers” and Tombolesi’s keys riding the staccato’d beat on “New Drop”. Everyone gets an aria, as Mazzenga bops on “Maria’s Interlude” and Cervi goes blue on “Roberto’s Interlude”. The titles and note give note to environmental concerns, which always fascinates me, as I rarely get an album worried about the slaughter of innocent babies which takes place in abortion clinics, but maybe that’s just me. Rich music with modern worldview allegiances.
