Pierre Lacocque’s Mississippi Heat: Madeleine

Harmonica master Pierre Lacocque blows a mean blue hurricane with a team including Teerrence Williams/dr, Brian Quinn/b, Ruben Alvarez/perc, Giles Corey/g, Inetta Visor/voc, Michael Dotson/voc-g, guests Kenny “Beedy Eyes” Smith/dr, Carl Weathersby/voc, Lurrie Bell/g and a handful of vocalists and horn players.

You get some shuffling Chicago wailing blues and sone sassy vocals on “Batty Crazy” with Lacocque creating a strong breeze off Lake Michigan, while there’s some nasty rural tones on “Everybody Do Something”. A humming Hammond hovers with Lacocque on “Uninvited Guest” and the train keeps a rolling as the harmonica steams down the line on the two stepping “Nothing I Can Do”. There’s some sweet horn work by Marc Franklin/tp and Kirk Smothers/sax with a chorus on “Empty Nest Blues” and tasty guitar tonings that lurk around the corner during “Madeleine”. Lacocque’s Mississippi Heat will make you sweat!
