Australian drummer Ryan Daunt leads a trio of fellow Aussies Tristan Wills/p and Nick Abbey/b through some interactive originals. Wills shows a rich lyricism as he opens up both “The Clutch” and “Contentment” over Daunt’s guiding sticks with the team building up to dramatic climaxes. Daunt rumbles with assertion a dramatic intro to the title piece and gives delicate hand gestures on the somber and thoughtful “Slow Burn”. Wills and Daunt do a nifty dance before the leader takes the front stage on the kinetic “Soup and Tea” with a dash of “Softly as in a Morning Sunrise” getting thrown in.
