Guitarist John Moulder goes electric, acoustic and nyloned with his team of Richie Beirach/p, Steve Rodby/b and Paul Wertico on this collection of 11 post bopped originals. On acoustic and electric, he dances over Wertico’s cymbals on the title track, which is part of a seven part “Metamorphosis Suite”. Also included is Beirach on a contemplative aria of “Into The Dazzling Darkness (Intro)” leading into a gentle nyloned jaunt. Moulder’s electric strings are cool alongside Wertico’s relaxed brushes on “Morning Angels” and mourning with Beirach during “One In A Dark Night”. The team bops well on the hip “Sarum” and “Soliloquy” with nylon strings and ivories creating an intimate impressionistic duet on “Magical Space”. Restrained tensions.
