Utah based Q’d up is made up of Hayley Kirkland/voc, Ray Smith/reeds, Ron Saltmarsh/g, Steve Leindeman/key, Eric Hansen/b, Jay Lawrence/dr-vib with a couple guests on these grooved originals. Saltmarsh and Lindeman give clean soloing on the festive Latin “Arumana” while the team does an easy relaxed sway to “Perfect Pizza”. The rhythm section snaps crisply to the Crescent City vibe with Kirkland on the fun “Tchoupitoulas” and the samba’d “Muito Obrigado” has some Methenyish soloing by Saltmarsh. Kirkland slithers around Hansen’s electric bass on the sensous “Escarlatta” while the reeds get deep around the nylon strings of “Tio Timoteo”. A joyfully bouncy ride.
