Charged Particles: Live At The Baked Potato

The historic LA jazz club The Baked  Potato was the scene of a tribute to sax legend Michael Brecker by the unit of Murray Low/p, Aaron Germain/b, Jon Krosnick/dr and Tod Dickow/sax, aka Charged Particles. The packed and enthusiastic potato was stuffed this night with modern grooves and sizzling post bop as the Brecker torch burned brightly this night in North Hollywood. Dickow’s tenor is intense, firing off notes over Germain’s hip bass line on “Peep”, while he gets romantic over Low’s keys on “Never Alone”. Krosnick and Germain dig deep into the spuds of the tropical “Sorry For Barry” and change directions like Formula One drivers on the soulful “The Mean Time”. Low delivers a pretty intro to the upbeat “Talking To Myself” and lays out some heavy vibes on the bopping “African Skies”. Sorry I missed this one in person; won’t make the same mistake twice, judging by this smoking night near Universal Studios. Could they include a home delivery food service for the cheese/mushroom potato?
