Deep voices and pulsations rule the day here on a collection of wondrous bass duets by Rodney Jordan and Christian Fabian. What can sometimes be an overindulgence in solo format is deliciously delightful as duos, as the two bassists swing and bop to delight. The gents mix bowing and picking on the deep stride of “Happy To Be Alive” while both glide to the melancholic “Despiritu #2” and slash out a “Jaws”-like theme on “Conversations #1”. With only the digits doing the work, the two give an easy pulse to “Just For You,” get snapping on the bouncy take of “My One and Only Love” and resonate deeply on “The Kind Giant”. The blues are bopped on “Conversations #4” and go bel canto for “Body and Soul” while giving a soul strut to “The Ride Over”. The toes are tapping on this one.
