Musical ethnologist Julian Gerstin plays a plethora of various instruments to explore various sounds from the big wide lockdowned world. There’s plenty of trumpets (Don Anderson), Trombone (John Wheeler), saxes (Michael Zsoldos/as-ts, Jon Weeks/ts-as-bs), keyboards (Eugene Uman) and other rhythmic artists, with Wanda Houston rapping out a “why can’t we get along” theme on the Latin “American History”. Sarah LeMieux gives luscious vocals to the sleek “After the Sleep Of Lies” and goes liturgical on “Long Journey Home”, with the rest of the album ranging from Afro Cuban moods on “Serious Fun” and “All Day Every Day” to funky Latin on “Remember and See”. Lots of Caribbean street sounds filled with celebration and contemplation.
