Celebrating his 70th Birthday, Natsuki Tamura goes solo, playing piano, trumpet and even the wok on this intuitive and personal album. On the horn, he flutters and spirals on “Sekirei”, has a soft puff to “Kawau” and splatters with his mouthpiece on “Chidori”. His piano work has Monkian dots and dashes during “Bora” and the grunts along to the theme of the folkish “Isoshigi”. He makes percussive use of the wok as he chants to “Karugamo” and taps to “Kamome”. The album gives off a feel of personal and private meditations while on a retreat, with us peeking in through the key hole.
