Formed during the Carter Administration, the team of Jon Rubin/g-voc, Donn Spindt/dr/voc, Tommy Dunbar/g-voc and Royse Ader/b-voc road the wave of the punk-new wave groove by forming The Rubinos. This album was recorded “live” at Folsom Studios and mixes the energy and tongue-in-cheek attitude of the rock times. They have fun riffing off of the Archie’s pop hit “Sugar Sugar” and revisit the Mersey beat of the 60s with The Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand” and “She Loves You” with a wink of the eye. Even better is the straight read of the bubblegum classic “Heartbeat, It’s A Love Beat” by the DeFranco Family sitting comfortably in the same couch with a grooving take of The Ventures “Walk, Don’t Run”. Hey! It’s sticking to the wall! Let’s play it!
