Cellist Hank Roberts leads a loose and intuitive team of Brian Drye/tb, Dana Lyn vi, Mike McGinnis/cl-ss, Jab Sacks/p and Vinnie Sperrazza/dr through a series of mixed and matched originals. The team is post bopped left of center as McGinnis’ clarinet glides around the swinging “Sat/Sun Pa Tu X” and the bright tones of “The Sharp Peak of the Science of Love”. Roberts is sonatalike on “Human Circuits” and does some exquisite pizzicato work with Lyn on “D23” while gets somber with Sacks during “Story”. A short and sweet “One Floor Axis” has Sacks in a Monish mood” while Sperraza gets herky-jerky as he moves the team around on “Shifting Paradigms in Pre GLC3” and the prismatic “GLC Magnetic Floating Stripper”. The 12 minute “B45L” features the languid Drye as well as the more concise “Levity Village”, as the entire album feels like a casual get together with each member getting a chance to throw in their two cents. Spontaneous designs.
