Keyboardist Steve Hunt must have some nice jam sessions at home with his buddies, as this album is chock full of fist tier guests mixed and matched for his compositions. The “A” list includes Billy Cobham/dr, John Patitucci/b, Jimmy Haslip/b, Eric Marienthal/as, and I’m not even taking a deep breath yet!
The sounds range from a Weather Report fusiony “Now’s The Time” with kalimba, keys and Etienne Mbappe’s snappy bass to some tribal chanting on “Prayer For A New Day” with Haslip creating a lithe pulse. Tropical tones with Patitucci and a thick horn section create wonders on “Connectins” and upbeat grooves are dug out on “Quantum Entanglement” and “Memories of Sherwood”. Drummer Gary Husband sits in for a gorgeous tribute to Allan Holdsworth with Nando Lauria’s ethereal voice on “Carry On” and Marienthal sweats out over an avalanche on “Full Plate”.
