Led by Russell “Hitman” Alexander on guitar and rough and ready vocals along with Kevin Bents/key, Mike Porter/b, Guy LaFountaine and a horn section with guests, the Hitman Blues Band serves up a swampy blue plate of bluesy rockers. Russell actually sounds a bit like Leon Russell, as on the gospel rocker “John The Revelator” and the funky “Not My Circus”. The team boogies hard on the R&Ber “Walk With You” and gives a nice calypso feel to “Buy That Man A Drink” while hitting the 50s scene on the lonely “You Don’t Understand”. Low ceiling and smoky, and count your hubcaps on the way to the parking lot.
