Rich nylon strings flow a law Ottmar Liebert or Lawson Rollins in the hands of Juan Carlos Quintero on this ten song collection of his own material. He’s supported by a team of Joe Rotonid/p, Eddie Resto-Alec Milstein/b and a collection of percussionists that percolate like Peruvian coffee. Quintero’s fingers dance nicely on the festive folk of “Spring” and “Porque Sil” with a nice Brazilian street feel simmering on “Caribbean Sun Dance”. Rich flamenco sketches are drawn on the dramatic “Libre” and smooth percussion propels “Hermanos” and the title pieces. While most of the tunes have a smooth jazz feel, Quintero shows that he knows how to bear down, as the team asserts itself on the driving “Little Indians”. Nylon strings with the sleekness of stockings.
