Crystalline pianist ShaiMaestro leads an impressionistic team of Jorge Roeder/b, Ofri Nehemya/dr and Philip Dizack/tp through a collection of almost all originals. The sole exception, Duke Ellington’s “In A Sentimental Mood”, is an out of character funky delivery, pulsated along by Maestro’s plucky strings in an exotic team work with Roeder’s high pitched bass. Of his own work, Maestro is romantic and understated teaming with the soft Dizack on “Human” and the breathy and personal cheers of “GG”. Nehemya’s tympani rumbles under Dizack’s sights on the gentle “Time” and his brushes give a rich cadence to Mastro’s pleadings on the dramatic buildup during “Prayer”. Maestro’s touch is elegant and dainty on “Ima” and delicate as he canter’s with Dizack on “Mystery and Illusions”. Elegaic episodes.
