Amaury Faivre plays all the instruments on this blue-hued collection of originals to produce a wide ranging mix of personal tones. The album is bookended by a pair of instrumentals, the relaxed “Watch Her Sleep” and the Cajun sounding “Amuse-bouche” with some strong harmonica blowing. His voice can range from a gruff “Wrong Girl” to an earnest “Sister” with a rich mix of drama and sardonic with. He can pick and grin like a troubadour on mandolin during “ Kinda Girl” and his slide work is impressive on the folksy “Heart of Stone” while delving into some two stepping Louisiana sounds as he wheezes on the harp on “Invite a Danser”. Have I seen this guy play on the streets?
