The team of guitarist Jesse Shafer, bassist Fisher Wilson, pianist Tyler Sim and drummer Kain Naylor put together an album or rich and sophisticated modern originals. The team gives a CTI soul feel as they stretch out on a 15 minute opener “A Trip Around The Sun” that mixes rich solos by Wilson and Shafer, with the team gets funky on “Sewer City Blues.” The gents are going softer on the delicate“Ingratiate” while the rhythm team gets peppy on the bopping “Con” and “The Gentle Rain”. Shafer is particularly lyrical on “Wood Blocks and Spinning Tops” and Naylor joins in with Wilson for a clippety clop of “Warm Winters”. Subtle, unassuming and alluring.
