Bassist and composer Maurcio Morales creates exciting soundtracks just waiting for a movie on this dramatic collection of originals. His team of Aga Derlak/p, Gene Coye-Juan Alejandro Saenz-Patrick Simard/dr is supplemented by a four piece string section along with lead work by Roni Eytan on harmonica, alto saxist Hailey Niswanger, guitarist Al Joseph and trumpeter Aidan Lombard.
Eytan’s harmonica sweeps the wondrous and wonderful fusion of “the title piece that features dramatic drum and bass work to propel the music along. The teamswirls through the frantic “Teremoto” that has harmonica sand tenor sax in a galloping chase. Harmonica and strings give a panoramic feel to “Relojito” with the team breaking down to a trio format in “The Glass Door” for Morales, Simard and Derlak to give some kinetic interplay. Some synthy rock takes place on the fusion “Garden of Hope” and lush moods get ecstatic with Niswanger’s alto giving a rich vibrato on “Colibri”. The s parks fly and occassionaly combust on this outing. The moon is full, bright and even hot.
