Rich voices by Elizabeth Rodriguez and Magdelys Savigne both meld for rich harmonies or come out in front for luscious soloing both in voice and instrument take place on this festive album of traditional folk and modern jazz. Rodriguez also plays violin with Savgne on percussion along with a core backing team of Frank Martinez/dr, Roberto Riveron/b and a rotating piano player support along with various g uests. Mix of rapid rap like call and responses and horns make for a rich chorus on “Mercedes” while more of a village sound is produced with guest Pablosky Rosales on tres guitar teaming with lively violin, upbeat pulsations of percussion and passionate voices on “Espiral” and the lovely “Aguila”. You also are introduced to a vocal tongue-twister on the opening a cappela’d “Cumba, Cumba” and a suave and seductive “Besame Mucho”. The ladies show their instrumental chops as they go rapid fire with violin and cajon on “Trocada” , while the closing “Pie de Foto” have the ladies carrying a well lit torch.
