Cosmic Vibrations: Pathways & Passages

A mix of world sounds and spiritual pleadings akin to vintage Alice Coltrane are delivered by vocalist Dwight Trible as he teams up with the wide ranging sounds of John B Williams/b, Derf Reklaw/perc-fl, Pablo Calogero/woodwinds, Christopher Garcia/perc, Breeze Smith/dr-perc and guests Scott Fraser/st-g and Tonhy Green /b-cel.

Trible has a sound and style that everyone desires in that it is completely unique and personal. Every note is filled with passion, such as when he teams up with Calogero on the free form read of “Blue Skies” or his pleading with Reklaw on “How Long”. He evokes memories of Paul Robeson with support by Calogero’s rich tenor sax and Williams’  pulse on “Motherless Child” while the team is eerie and mystical with him on “Nature’s Vision”. There’s plenty of tribal sounds from Africa as well, with some chanting pulsated by percussion on “Olbap” and the loose “Tragedy Escapes”. Earth tones and earthy atmospheres team up with spiritual compasses on this rich mosaic of music.
