This one is going to knock your socks off. Who ever thought that a French Chanteuese could put out a HOT salsa disc, but here it is! Raquel Bitton sings with that classic nasal rive gauche vocal style, yet brings it in front of a 20 piece Afro-Cuban band making a paella of a production that you will savor for hours. She mixes and matches various styles, such as Sambas, Cha-chas, Merengues and Boleros, and milks each syllable for whatever it’s worth. Her pleading on “Le Secret De Tes Caresses” will make you wilt, while she drops you like a dead weight on “Il Est Trop Tard.” The band sizzles like grilled onions and peppers on “Tango Melodie” and can bring up the schmaltz for all its glory on “Pardon Moi.” This might be the party album of the year. Mucho gusto, mon ami!
