All star session gents Christian Fabian on bass, organ-meister Ron Oswanski and legendary beat man Bernard Purdie deliver a smoking B3 trio on this mix of originals and jazzers. Purdie’s patented high hat boogaloo is in perfect form during the tricky “The Red Plaza” and the soulful strut of “Can’t You See (You’re Doing Me Wrong)”, with an irresistible clickety clack on “Battle Hymn of the Republic”. Fabian delivers some thumb tapping bass lines to Purdie’s backbeat on the laid back “84-85” and shows his Stanley Clarke chops as he walks along Oswanski’s line on “Got Groove (Pt 2)”. Oswanski hums on the noirish “BPP Blues” and the three gel on the slinky read of Miles Davis’ “So What”. Funkified fun.
