Passionately sung messages about social issues and injustices are composed and stylistically delivered by Joan Watson-Jones supported by bassist Dave Zox and drummer Alvin Terry, with arrangements by pianist Frank Wilkins. She adds her own lyrics to hard hitting drumming on a revamped take of the classic “Topsy” and her read of “Here’s To Life” closes things on an optimistically resigned mode. In between she pleads for freedom in “Let Me Go”, revisits the famed Freedom March on “Talking With Martin” and brings up views of social injustice on “My Child’s Dreams”. The messages are filled with political implications and #MeToo moments and relationships gone bad and going good.
