The collective of Stefan Lenthe/b, Clay Wulbrecht/p-key, Chris Parker/dr and Rodrigo Cotelo/g deliver thirteen tunes and fragments that show rich interplay and communication. A handful of tunes are quicky vignettes, featuring Cotelo on banjo for “Layers of Complexity” and Lenthe on the ditty “Normality Links”, but for the most part, the team shows its ability to lay out a complete concept. Wulbrecht’s Hammond swings like vintage Larry Young on the post bopper “Leaps and Bounces” and boogaloos along with Cotelo on the 5/4 pulsed “Catch A Clue”. Pretty blues guitar and piano make up “Home” and the hip pulse of “In Some Shape Or Form” with the team getting a bit into the Twilight Zone as they jam and crash on “Change of Pace”.
