Suave and flowing sounds are supplied by Dayna Stephens, as he creates an soft sounding trio with bassist Ben Street and drummer Eric Harland while he himself takes on the tenor, alto and baritone saxes for impressionistic paint brushes. His baritone clippetty clops to Harland on “Lost and Found” is in a relaxed swing mood for “At Least 37th Cousins”. On tenor, he shows his bop chops on the happy “Wil’s Way” and the easy swinger “Planting Flowers” while he digs a groove with his mates on the funky “Faith Leap”. An exotic “Tarifa” features Stephens’ alto in a rich p ulse, and “Rhyming History” lilts with calmness. Harland is nimble with the sticks on “Loosy Goosy” while Street struts a “Kwooked “Stweet”. Rich use of space, no clutter and no collisions.
