Intimate duets between vocalist Gloria Reuben and guitarist Marty Ashby make for a relaxed and subdued session. The two get into cozy moods on pieces like “Sing My Heart” and the tender title track> Reuben’s voice is clear and effortless in its range, with a delicate vibrato on the acoustic stringed support of “A Time For Love” and the tender story of “The People That You Never Get To Love”. Reuben’s guitar has a dash of Herb Ellis swing to it on the easy and rich “I’ll Close My Eyes” while providing palpable patience on “I Get Along Without You Very Well” while delivering a subtle samba pulse for “How High The Moon”. Understated wonders.
