Here’s a festive collection of tunes with Roberto Fonseca playing a plethora of different keyboards, singing, hand clapping and hitting some percussion as he mixes and matches with a core of Yandy Martinez Rodriguez/b and Raul Herrera/dr and a rotating group of friends.
On keyboards, he teams with tenor saxist Joe Lovano on a post bopping “Vivo” that sparkles, while Ibrahim Maalouf loans his horn for a hard hitting Afro Cuban “Kachucha” that sizzles. His clavinet gets funky with vocalist Danay Suarez on the earthy “Cadenas” while the vocal team GEMA 4 are rich on the pulsating “La Llamada” and festive on the kinetic “Mambo Pa La Nina.” Soulful bass and piano get deep on “Ocha” and dig deep on the big sounding “Motown.” This album oozes with enthusiasm, especially when you remember that “Entheos” means that God is inside of him; Fonseca feels the Spirit!
