Tamuz Nissim: Capturing Clouds

Some vocalists sing; Tamuz Nissim interprets and uses her voice like a character actor on this album that features her own compositions and a pair of standards and some covers supported by the adroit team of George Nazos/g, Harvie S/b and Tony Jefferson/dr.

Her delivery is almost subliminal as she gives a sleek and yet loose read of “On The Sunny Side of the Street” while she jumps around the obstacle course laid down by bass and brushes on the nimble delivery of “On The Sunny Side of the Street.” A duet with Harvie S gives a slinky “What A Pair” and she cascades with Nazo’s acoustic strings on “Listen” while he hands her nylons on “Here Comes The Sun” that  fit like stockings. She is clever as she weaves around Jefferson’s hip pulse on “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” and bops to his brushes on “Like Someone In Love.” Flexible and fun.
