You won’t recognize any big gospel names from this mix of Midwest believers, but don’t let that dissuade you. Brother Randy Wilson leads you through a Soul Stirrers styled It’s Going To Pay” with a delivery not unlike Sam Cooke. A STAXY “No Other Love” has the Messiahs of Glory stomping with a boogalooing organ, and Joanne and Sonny deliver like Dorothy Love Coates on “Journey” while Joanne’s Carla Thomas tone preaches it on “Rocky Roady.” Rev HH Harrington pounds the pulpit on a riveting “Christmas In Heaven” and the Gospel Carolets swing like the Shirelles on “Try Jesus.” The sound quality is better than expected, while the message is truly inspiring.
