Petros Klampanis: Irrationalities

Petros Klampanis states in his liner notes that this album is “inspired by the courage…to constantly reinvent themselves.” It’s dedicated to “people…not afraid to ask difficult questions and…embrace the irrationality that exists in the answers.” That’s a lot to ask of an album!

The music itself lead by Klampanis, who plays bass, a bit of glockenspiel and throws in his voice as he teams with pianist Kristjan Randalu and drummer/percussionist  Bodek Janke is likewise quite intuitive and searching. Sounds of a space probe open things up on “Easy Come Easy Go” and the three make ethereal atmospheric moods on the aqueous “Thalassa Platia.” Voices, percussion and ambient tones take up a lot of time here, as on “Irrationality” and “No Becomes Yes” with a handful of “Temporary Secrets” almost subconscious in their musings. Dreams captured on instruments.
