Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters: Beyond the Blue Door

Vintage guitarist Ronnie Earl digs in with a core unit of Dave Limina’p-B3, Forrest Padgett/dr, Paul Kochanski/b foot stomping vocalist Diane Blue, and a mix and match of special guests on this wide ranging swing session of strings.

The team is earthy and fervent on “Brand New Me” and the band shuffles on a burning “How Long  Baby.” Saxes by Mario Perrett/ts, Greg Piccolo/ts and Scott Shetler/bs give a soulful mood to “Drowning In A Sea Of Love” and give a STAX feel to “A Soul That’s Been Abused.” Earl’s picks as clean as a dentist’s poker on the agonizing “Drown In My Own Tears” and cries on “Piece of Mind” as his strings sigh on “Blues With A Feeling.” Blue sounds like she knows how to work
