Rich and ambient landscapes are created by the team of Michele Rabbia, Gianluca Petrella and Eivind Aarset who each bring in electronic sounds along with their respective percussion, trombone and guitar for this album. The melding of sighing brass and electronic textures create a delicate sonic wallpaper on pieces such as “Nimbus” and “Flood” with lush support under Petrella’s breathy forming a cirrus cloud of sound on “Styx.” Some sound effects create moods of thought, as if a door were opening and closing on “Flotsam” and a breeze wafting through the pines on “Wadi.” The feel is similar to vintage Brian Eno, but with a guest trombone, and the atmospheres work well in the concept.
