Having worked with the likes of Randy Brecker, Les McCann and Charlie Hunter as well as more pop oriented artists like Levon Helm and John Mayer, singer-songwriter Oli Rockberger brings all of those sounds to the table on this self produced release. He’s got an earnest, almost Phil Collins-ish charm to his voice, which sounds open hearted as he pleads with simple keyboard support on “Over The Bridge.” Moody strings on the lonely “Never Grow Old” display a vulnerability, while his harmonies pop like an fm hit on “Don’t Forget Me.” Some funky electric 70s fusion makes “Queen of Invasion” a kick while playful piano closes the disc with a thoughtful “My Home.” Guys like this were a dime a dozen in the 70s, but then so was gas at 70 cents a gallon!
