Justin Morell: Concert for Guitar and Jazz Orchestra

This three piece concerto composed and arranged by Justin Morell has a lot going for it. The woodwind-heavy 20 piece Frost Concert Jazz Band is directed by John Daversa, and it also features the guitar work of clear toned Adam Rogers. The melodies are clever and easy on the ears, with a whimsical them of puffy reeds riding a journey on “Lost, Found and Lost” as Rogers slides through the cirrus clouds. Rich flutes team with Garrett Fracol’s brushes gracefully guiding the team along during “Life and Times” while the team asserts itself with an intricate gallop on “Terraforming” as Rogers digs deep into a repetitive theme that builds to a rich climax with the saxes. Original sounding music that keeps your attention throughout. Any tours coming up?
