SOUNDS LIKE THE FIRST TIME…Foreigner: Live At The Rainbow ‘78

This 75 minute dvd features the original Foreigner band in a hot blooded concert at the Rainbow Theatre, peforming material from their first two mega hit albums. The team of Mick Jones/g-key, Lou Gramm/voc, Ian McDonald/g-key/wwinds, Al Greenwood/key, Ed Gagliardi/b and Dennis Elliott/dr were in inspired form, with Gramm in particularly rich voice as on “Long, Long Way From Hone” and the rhythm section in tight grooves for “Feels Like the First Time” and the team with rich harmonies for “Cold As Ice.” Almost every song from their top selling debut album is featured here, and a couple from the followup Double Vision, including the title track and the fist pumping “Hot Blooded” are delivered with arena rock machismo. It’s important to realize that at this early point in their development, Foreigner was seen as an answer to the then popular punk rock movement, holding on to the hard rock mantle and stomping out all competition in blue jeans and T shirts while the world was awash in glitter, spiked hair and safety pins in their ears. Bold and brawny!
