Guitarist Dominic Miller takes the listener on various countryside journeys on this gentle folk album with Santiago Arias on the bandoneon, keyboardist Mike Lindup, bassist Nicholas Fiszman and drummer Manu Katche’. Folk forms with a suave backbeat get bohemian on the title track, mixing the sighing keys and gently strummed strings, with a mix of pastoral and steel coagulating on “Chrisitana.” Trips to a local village plaza are delivered with a gentle pulse on “Saint Vincent” as well, while Lindup’s piano float with Miler on “Verveine.”
More American folk moods are felt on the soft breeze of “Bicycle” and the deftly brushed “Mixed Blessing” while in solo format a tender “Le Petite Reine” is a cozy and intimate etude. Gentle and palpable warm.
