Hammond B3 vet Tony Monaco gives a rib sticking meal with a soulful team of Derek DiCenzo/g and Tony McClung/dr on this juke joint of a jumper. The team is in a funky mood, which is what the B3 was created for, and the sparks fly from the get go on “Cars Trucks Buses” while the team gets the boogie blues on a cooking little take of the Grateful Dead hit “ Truckin’.” Monaco pulls the pedals for an oozing “Root Down” that is coaxed by McCLung and the team takes you to the local Moose Lodge for a danceable “Last Date.” Monaco mixes things up as he sings a bel canto “Quando Quando Quando,” pulls out the accordion and takes you to Trastevere on the folksy “Non Ti Scordare Di Me” and gets deeply personal as he sings and plays piano for an intimate “A Song For You.” If he can also cook pasta carbonara, I’ll hire him for my daughter’s wedding!
