Singer Willa Vincitore delivers rich observations of life and relationships on this rootsy collection of mostly originals. She’s teamed with Karl Allweier/g, Scott Milici/key, Doug Abramson/b, Lee Falco/dr, Brandon Morrison/voc and a handful of guests. She shows she can strut with the best on bluesy rockers like “Just Ain’t The Same” and Annie Lennox’s declaratory “Money Can’t Buy It.” She oozes with Milici’s Hammond on a hip hugger “Need A Little Help” and gets frantic along with Falco’s high powered drumming during “Bite Me.”
But as with most singers, she’s best when most unadorned, giving off a hoot of attitude with Milici’s saloon’d piano on “Everything Hurts” and getting intimately personal on “It Is What It Is.” This lady is comfortable in her own skin, and she carries a song the same way.
