John McCutchen: To Everyone In All The World

John McCutchen celebrates the music and message of Pete Seeger as he himself plays 6 & 12 string guitars, hammer dulcimer, banjo, Tibetan singing bowl and singing along with a Wagnerian ensemble including the bands Hot Rize, Finest Kind, The Steel Wheels, members of Beausoleil as well as Jon Caroll/key-acc, JT Brown/b, Pete Kennedy/g, Robert Jospe/dr, John Jenning/sg, Stuart Duncan/g and other guests on guitar, horns strings and voice.

The renditions range from traditional American sounds with a banjo on knee for “Well May the Wolrd Go” and the title track, with some rich harmonies on “If I Had A Hammer.” The team gets funky on “Talking Union” and a clever Caribbean lilt gives flavor to  “Mrs. Clara Sullivan’s Letter.” McCutchen gets poetic with  piano on a deliberate “Turn, Turn, Turn” and goes dramatic with B3 and rocking drums for “Waist Deep in the Big Muddy.” Tradition and new turns, turns, turns.
