Gene Pritsker: Electric Music Extravaganza

Composer Gene Pritsker gets adventurous with some modern sounds that mixes group sizes from solo piano to adventurous small groups. A four piece “Suite #1” with Petro Kruza/vi and Kai Schumacher/p creates eerie moods with intricate spider webs. A handful of solo piano work by Schumacher ranges from a fun “Circus Dreaming Rag” to a Monkish “Middle Ages Rag.” Vocal shouts and voices team with piano and Philipp Bernardt’s drums for a free and frisky “Haiku Shout Song Cycle” while a whip-like rhythm sounds like the ramming speed scene in Ben Hur for the small group “Migration Song” and “gas Choral II.” Snippets of voice and free form music team up on “Quotes From People Born On July 18th” and some fun swing actually gets you on your feet for “Plie’.” Cut up clippings from various musical magazines?
