Consisting of Chris Donnelly/p-key, Dan Fortin/b and Ernesto Cervini/dr-perc-wwinds, Myriad Three creates rich textures and pastel moods on this album of mostly originals. Cervini guides with soft cymbals for delicate fragrances on “Pluie Lyonnaise” and teams with Fortin for a clocklike chime on “Ward Lock.” Donnelly and Fortin lurk around the streets on “DNA” while forming a thick pulse on “Couche Tard.” The team has some fun with Stravinsky’s “Piano-Rag-Music” with some sharp angles and frisky bop runs, while an indie collection of colors is created during “Total.” This team focuses on the organic wholeness of a song, and it works well on this collection of musical portraits.
