Vocalist Mandy Barnett delivers a rich and bluesy collection of moods on this recent album. Her voice has a dash of Patsy Cline pathos along with a sandied rural feel, working well on pieces like a murky “More Lovin’” with guest Arnold McCuller as well as a duet with John Hiatt on a rocker of “A Cowboy’s Work is Never Done.” Both guitar and Barnett twang on rural pieces like “Dream Too Real to Hold” and “Puttin’ On the dog” while a dash of Creedence Clearwater takes you to a green river on a swampy “The Foot, ” some Al Green soul with organ oozes on “Strange Confession” and the Chicago blues ramble on during “Put A Chain on It.” A trip to the local Moose Lodge.
