Music is one of the few things that can unify people. This album, recorded in concert in 25 countries, features 210 musicians ranging from The Doobie Brothers to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The message emitted is that with all of the problems in the world, we need something to get us all together. While faith and obedience to God is the ultimate solution, music ain’t a bad second!
The Doobie Brothers’ iconic title track still sounds fresh and upbeat, while Dr. John gets folksy on the hillbilly “Everlasting Arms.” Buddy Guy teams with Chicago Children’s Choir for a B3-gospel “Skin Deep” while Lee Oskar’s harp teams with Mombino for an African “Ahoulaguine Akaline.” The album closes out with Jimmy Buffett, David Crosby and David Hildago getting down home on “Ripple,” but the whole attitude here is an encouraging one.
