I usually don’t review eps, but these two songs by Paul Keller/b, Rick Roe/p, Pete Mills/as, Dwight Adams/tp and Nate Winn/dr are just too fun to ignore. They perform a pair of obscure Charlie Parker tunes, the easy swinging “Bluebird” and the mid tempo’s “Another Hair-do.” Adams’ muted horn is hip and relaxed with Mills on alto on the former, while Winn’s high hat sizzles along with Roe’s bluesy ivories on the latter. When’s the full album coming out? These guys are fun!
